Why we wrote this book

We kept hearing the same story. A new AI tool. A new pilot. A new vendor promising transformation. And underneath it all, the same structural problems — the same misaligned incentives, the same organizational drag, the same gap between what leadership announced and what actually changed.

After years of working with enterprises navigating AI investment, we became convinced that the problem wasn't the technology. Organizations weren't failing because they chose the wrong tools. They were failing because they kept asking new capabilities to work inside old structures.

We wrote this book because that story deserved a name — and a way out.
